Resources, Tips, and Advice for Adult Content Promotion on Reddit
Reddit is where my money is. Reddit is my cash cow and my workhorse and I hate her and I love her. Here is some of my best advice for diving in and using her, and some resources on spicy promotion on Reddit.
Some Tips for Promotion on Reddit
- Shadow bans are so real and they are throwing them out like candy and pretty much at this point they don’t respond to appeals very easy. Just lost my account of 6 years 8 plus 1,000 followers and 200,000 plus karma. Broke my heart. Here is a huge resource on how to avoid best practices links to never use and also what to do when or if you get hit.
- Don’t make your account and just try and start posting day one. You’re probably not going to be able to post in the reputable safe places anyway. You have to build your karma. Karma are basically reputation points that the community gives you by either voting your post up or down. Not only do you need to maintain your total karma you have to have it broken down between posting karma your karma you get from commenting and individual subreddit karma. The other factor that can help protect your account of bit is to have a strong CQS score. That is the contributor quality score that Reddit gives you. It’s a feature of a new auto mod policy, but it’s been a good tell for how your account is doing as well. Check it here
- Really really understand that verification is a pain in the ass, I get that, but it is the safer better option for you and your account. Just two years ago we watched a very popular NSFW sub go down for content violation. Every single poster whoever posted in that sub lost their account permanently that day. Here’s a guide on how to verify
- Take time to use the platform as a user before you use it as a promoter. Reddit really is community-based. The subreddits alone have their own culture each. Spend time scrolling through commenting up voting engaging, before you start posting.
- Never post the same image in more than three to five subreddits. That’s considered spam. Do not ever repeat a caption a title or a DM over and over and over even if there’s space between them and it’s over a long period of time. The spam filter will start catching you and enough catches in that filter is going to lead to that shadow.
- When it comes to choosing a sub, the big giant NSFW subs are where most people tend to go. That being said, they are oversaturated. And so many of the people subscribe to them are creators. So you’re not really promoting to your clients, you’re promoting more to your competition. Really consider engaging in some of the smaller or somewhat smaller subreddits that relate to your niche and your brand or your interest.
- You can totally mix up SFW profiles and dabble NSFW in there or even go half and half or whatever. My account is a hybrid account. I will link it here if you want to check it out. I had 1.7 K karma on December 10th when I had to switch to this account. I’m sitting at over 13,000 now. The combination of NSFW and SFW helps buyers just get to see you as a human more which is a huge appeal on Reddit. In the same vein of humanization, your comment section is actually pretty important. If it’s just spammy or sexual or links it can look like your account is more of a bot than anything else. So make sure you are paying attention to her. Here is an exclusive dive into why.
- When I say Reddit has its own culture I mean it. It even has its own language. This resource breaks that down.
- Consistency is king. As is timing. If you do not time your post meaningfully, it will have a higher likelihood of not performing well. And that timing for best posting is per subreddit. Huge resource I use is this subreddit timing analyzer Expect to have posts that do great and then post that due terrible and for those to happen both at the same time all the time. It really is hit or miss. Speaking on consistency, I have to use a scheduler. I only post seven times a day to protect my account, but some post up to 60 I’ve heard. If you choose a scheduler to use, do not use it until you have plenty account karma and minimum 200 comment karma. We have just kind of seen those limits to be where Reddit will tolerate you using one and not flag you as spam.
- In terms of content style I would say more creative more witty more personality filled captions do better. And less edited more raw more real photos do better as well.
- I make my income directly through Reddit with direct sales. Here is a rundown on direct sales with a more comprehensive guide linked within.
- If you are banned in one subreddit from one of your accounts, you are banned in all of them. If you attempt to post from a secondary account into a subreddit you are banned in, you will be banned from the entire platform. That is called ban evasion. Track Your subreddit verification status and protect your account using this subreddit verification tracker.
I would think my two most important tips would be:
- Follow the content policy and follow the rules of the subreddits. I have made a huge network of moderators from all the subreddits I promote in and y’all when you are nice to them they are so much more lenient when you are pushing those boundaries or you mess up. In fact one of them literally just helped me build this new website. Too many subreddit bans can lead to a shadow.
- Be yourself y’all. Really! Or be whoever the hell you want to be. Having a big personality shine through is incredibly incredibly helpful and fruitful not only for building your community on Reddit, but also it gets that bag.
