Content Storage Sharing And Organization Solutions For Spicy Creators
What is the number one struggle you think you face logistically when it comes to content creation and is it the same as mine was when I started? Because mine was content storage sharing and organization. As content creators we can end up storing terabytes and terabytes of our own content. Finding a way to store that, organize that, and then distribute it to buyers is crucial. In this resource we are going to go over a few options. We are only going to cover the most common ones. We are not going in depth on the terms of service of each of these however we will brush on them.
Content storage solutions, sharing solutions and organization solutions
Google drive
- This is a widely used option for content storage. On many devices and especially if you have an Android device your photos can be set to automatically upload to Google’s cloud server which they call Google One. All of your photos are stored in your Google One account in your Google photos. Personally I find the organization of this to be clunky, and a pain to have to go back and reorganize everything. To store shareable content, Google Drive allows you to upload, organize and store just about all media and file types. You can then get a link to specific media or folders.
- This is a horrendous option for content sharing. It is very blatantly against Google’s terms of service to distribute adult content with their platform. That includes sharing links. Google will go so far as to shut your account down. Think of how many accounts you log in to with that Google account… Their terms of service states:
“Do not distribute content that contains sexually explicit material, such as nudity, graphic sex acts, and pornographic material. This includes driving traffic to commercial pornography sites. We allow nudity for educational, documentary, scientific, or artistic purposes.” - Google drive has both a free and a paid option. The free plan comes with every Google account. It consists of 15 GB. Something important to keep in mind: your drive, your Gmail and your photos all shares the same amount of storage. You have another option at $1.99 per month for 100 GB. Two TB for $9.99 per month and five terabytes for $24.99 per month, and finally 10 terabytes for $49.99 per month. Please note, if you are at the state of having 10 plus terabytes per month consider a NAS which is something we’ll go in depth soon in this article. You can find all of Google ones pricing plans here.
Dropbox
- Dropbox is another option for storage. Though it’s not as intuitively built in as Google photos, there is an option that you can set In your Dropbox settings to automatically have photos and videos taken on your device uploaded to a Dropbox folder, and sync your files. Unfortunately for the media, you cannot designate what folder these will go to. They will all go to one folder labeled camera uploads and then you will need to move them from there. I personally use Dropbox to store all of my pre-made videos, my panty drawer, along with multiple files and content pieces related to my business.
- Dropbox is an okay sharing option. I am not going to say it is 100% sex worker friendly because it’s not. That being said, it is a hell of a lot more tolerant of us than Google drive is. If we remember their entire terms of service regarding this is:
“publish, share, or store materials that constitute… unlawful pornography, or are otherwise indecent…”
There is no further clarification on what is considered otherwise indecent or illegal. I reached out four months ago twice regarding clarification to no response. I personally still use Dropbox to not only store my custom-made content I mainly use it to share the links. I prefer this platform for a few reasons, one of them being the security that Dropbox has with the plan I am on. When sharing a link I can either allow or disallow downloads, and I can require a password and cancel or edit a link, among many other safety features. Many purchasers prefer this option because they do not always need to be signed in in order to view or download the content. - Dropbox has a free and multiple paid options. Two GB of storage is their free option. Their next option gives you two TB of storage for $11.99 a month, then you have nine TB of storage for $19.99 a month, they have even more options available. Dropbox pricing plans can be found here.
WeTransfer
- We transfer is not a file storing option with their free plan, however it is a file sharing option whether paid or free. To use this you would simply create an account, then when uploading a file you would select either send email transfer (to send the file to an email) or send transfer link. To share a link, you upload the images or videos or content that you want to share, click get a link. Then it may take a while to load depending on the size of your file. For a 20-minute file that was around 800 MB it took about 5 minutes for it to upload to be transferred. Once loaded it will populate your link.
- We transfer has four payment pricing plans. They have the free option where you can send up to 2 GB of files at a time. You do not need to verify transfers for this. Their next option is $15 per month and that allows you to send and receive up to 200 GB a month and you have one TB of storage. Their final option is $25 per month and that has unlimited storage with no size limit on file transfers.
- When we come to discuss their terms of service they are vague as all hell. They do not specifically mention anything regarding storing or distributing adult content however they do state not to use the platform for anything that
“is obscene, defamatory, libelous, slanderous, profane, indecent, discriminating, threatening, abusive, harmful, lewd, vulgar, or unlawful”. How they define obscene, indecent, lewd and vulgar, I could not tell you.
Telegram
- Telegram is a chat app. As such, it’s a fantastic option for sending content to buyers. You are able to send audio, video, documents, just about everything you can imagine. Sending content from your device is fairly fast in comparison to other similar apps, and is comparable to dropbox speeds. To store content, simply upload or forward the message containing the media into your saved messages. If you are logged out of your designated account, send the to your accounts username. Then when logged back in, forward it to saved messages. There is no organization other than using keywords and the search bar OR hashtags. My messages are saved with text detailing the keywords of everything that happens in the video, the props, solo or colab, roleplay etc. along with the length and price. This way if someone can’t choose but roughly knows what they want, I can search their keywords against mine to see what comes up.
- Sending content from within telegram is instant. What I do is upload all of my pre-made videos into my saved messages. Once there, they are stored on telegram’s encrypted servers and are accessible to you even if you clear the cache to free up storage on your device. From there you are able to download them onto any of your devices logged in, or you can instantly forward them to a purchaser from your saved messages. This is a fantastic option if a large amount of your business is conducted there. Unfortunately, you cannot make a link to share outside telegram. So, you would have to download them to your device and use a file sharing or transfer service. I feel no giant concern when it comes to TOS violations as Telegram notoriously stays out of private business and onlys states not to post illegal porn publicly.
- Telegram has a free and a paid version. Both offer unlimited cloud storage. The biggest difference between the free and paid version would be the free version allows sending up to two GB per message, and the paid version allows you to send up to four GB per message. The paid version also has quicker download speeds but does not claim to have faster upload speeds. The paid version is $4.99 a month and you can find the upgrade area within the app itself. I will say I make almost all of my income using the Telegram app and I do not have a premium account. I have sent over 30-minute long videos and I have not gone over that 2 GB limit.
NAS ( Network Attached Storage)
- A network-attached storage server replaces the need for exterior cloud servers. Instead of using someone else, you house your own. The device connects to your home internet and rather than storing all of your files on your hard drive, all of the device’s files in your network can be stored on the external drive. For remote access of these files, you can use a VPN to access your home network, some also have websites and apps that you can access. These are fantastic options for storage if you are within the terabytes, on terabytes, and subscription after subscription category. This can have options for data sharing as well though I will admit to not knowing much about this and the safety of it so please consider much further in depth research on this. Let me know if y’all would want me to research more into NASs.
- This removes the monthly subscriptions for storage solutions. But, a NAS device is going to be the biggest upfront cost. These widely vary in price depending on a multitude of factors. This resource shows a lower end of around $100 and an upper end of around $1500. This does not also account for the hard drives as the devices do not come with them. Pricing on those depends on speed, capacity, and brand. Those are not the only upfront costs you could be facing, but some to keep in mind.
- Terms of service are equally as hard to pin down as it depends on thee system you go with. Just with everything, be sure to know what you are agreeing to before agreeing.
These are just a few of the many options out there so before choosing one over the other, really research and poke around to see how you feel!
